A Choice to Be Made

I stood at crossroads,
Pondering over my next move,
There was so much more to discover,
Much more to prove.

Two ways lay side by side,
Yet as different as the night and the day,
Each had its own benefits,
And sure enough, had its own price to pay.

The question that lingered was of the risk,
One path lay simple, flat and straight,
The other, narrow surrounded by deep crevices,
The first one assured completion, the other something great.

The past came back to haunt me,
A similar crossroad had left me scarred,
The risk then had kept me content for a while,
But then a small slip and it left me tainted and marred.

Then I looked the other way,
A simple route and the destination in view,
Just needed to keep going on,
And I would surely reach there the same, nothing new.

Now I weigh out the options, assurance vs reward,
Too long I have been in the no-risk lane,
Time to let go of my past, my fears, my worries,
Time to take on these crevices and ravines once again.
